Happy Hour with the Rainforest Collection: Blue Marble Mocktail

Today we are going to make our first mocktail in the Rainforest Collection. It is called the Blue Marble Mocktail.

It is fruity, bubbly, pretty and fun to drink.  Best of all it is wholesome and 100% alcohol-free.  This is a perfect drink for children as well as adults who choose not to drink alcohol.

Blue Marble Mocktail Ingredients

Organic Blue Spirulina Powder:  This is a superfood you can purchase from the health food section of your grocery shop or supermarket.  It is what will give your Blue Marble that lovely blue colour.

Orange Juice: This is what will add that refreshing citrus flavour and golden hue to your mocktail.

Whipped Cream:  This is an optional topping for your mocktail to make it look pretty and fun.

Blue Quandong (also called Blue Marble): This is the crowning glory of your rainforest mocktail.  The bright blue fruit of the blue quandong tree, a native of the rainforest regions of Queensland and New South Wales, Australia, is edible despite having a tangy, bitter flavour.  Unless you are lucky enough to get hold of them, you will have to make do with an alternative such as blueberries to represent them.

Sparkling Water:  Adding sparkling water to your mocktail will cause those bubbles to form, giving your drink a fun, effervescent quality.

Sweet Basil Seeds:  Another superfood you can obtain from the health food section, you need to soak them in water for 15 minutes in advance to get that gel-like texture.  They have a mild nutty flavour and add a delightful chewy textural element to your drink.

How to Make Your Blue Marble Mocktail

  • Choose a pretty cocktail glass, preferably a hurricane glass.
  • Add a few ice cubes to your glass.
  • Add your sparkling water and then mix in the blue spirulina powder to get that lovely blue hue.
  • Now add in orange juice to get that golden sparkle.
  • Add your sweet basil seeds.  They will look like frog eggs floating in a pond!
  • Add some whipped cream over the top of the drink and garnish with your blue marble fruit or alternative.

Now you have your very first Rainforest Mocktail.  Easy as pie.  Enjoy.

Cheers & Stay Sober!
